Today, I want to discuss a new prize system we’re rolling out for our weekly events. Earlier this year, we converted all our weekly events to a “pack-per-win” (PPW) structure. This did some good things, but some players received it poorly.

We decided to make some tweaks to the system. Our goal is to make a prize structure that would pay out more than just the top few people. Prizing that helps newer and more casual players stay engaged in weekly events by giving them something attainable to play for. We also wanted something that would reward committed players who regularly place high at events. Lastly, we wanted something that could be paid out the day of the event avoiding slow payout times and confusing prize structures. Introducing "Dust":
Dust
Dust is like a local currency local to the Refuge. It will be given out in the form of physical cards. You can collect it - saving it for something on the Prize Wall or trade it with others at the Refuge.
Instead of giving out a pack per round win, 500 Dust will be rewarded in place of every normal pack that would have been given.
For example, if you go 2-1 in a Magic event, you’ll receive 1000 Dust.
Some events like Pokémon have special prize packs. In these cases, players and participants will be rewarded the special prize packs first then, for any additional wins they will receive 500 Dust. For example, if you go 3-0 in your Pokémon league, you will receive 1000 dust, plus a prize pack. For those who prefer pack per win, you can still cash your dust in for packs.
The Dust system will be implemented at the beginning of April. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via our contact form.
Thank you!
